The Obsidian's
philosophy promotes inclusiveness through a conceptual framework that directly
springs from our collective history. It embraces diversity through a system that
is self-defined and self-sustaining.
The Obsidian provides
a focal point for individuals and groups of individuals who are committed to the
health and well-being of the family. It supports a nurturing environment in
which issues can be discussed, ideas can be developed, and models can be
employed.
Although based in the United States, The Obsidian works closely with its
West African analog, Fondation Tabax Subė Council of the Obsidian
West Africa (FTS). FTS is a Senegal-based Non Governmental
Organization (NGO). As two sides of the same coin The Obsidian
and FTS share a mission of designing, implementing, and refining
place-based sustainable development strategies that are culturally
based, spiritually directed, and holistically oriented.
Tabax Subė (meaning "to build tomorrow" in Wolof) is also the effort
through which these efforts are come to life.
