Tabax Subë creates venues for authentic, grassroots interaction among Africans from across the African Diaspora. Through Tabax Subë we can convene, discuss issues, devise interventions, and create new tomorrows. Tabax Subë focuses on authentic exchange and creative interaction among experts of day-to-day life -- ordinary people who are doing extraordinary things.

Based in Dakar, on the Senegalese coast, Tabax Subë enjoys sun & sea most months of the year. This 12 month growing season is unsurpassed for nurturing the creative process. A brief, 7-hour flight from New York or Paris, Tabax Subë is conveniently located. It is professionally staffed to sustain environments conducive to intellectual cogitation, engaging conversation, invigorating activity, and regenerative rest. Delicious meals are prepared to combine the delights of traditional Senegalese cuisine with the best practices of contemporary health and nutrition.

In addition to the enrapturing pleasance of Senegalese “teranga,” Tabax Subë offers massage therapy, reflexology, acupuncture, meditation, and traditional West African herbology to guide guests along their regenerative journeys. Music, movement, and Senegalese dance classes are available for those so inclined. Multi-lingual guides are on-hand to ensure that guests have the opportunity to experience Senegal and connect with her people, life, and culture. Although Tabax Subë presents this idyllic setting, it is committed to creating avenues to address the critical issues affecting the collective future – the development of youth, family, community, and the institutions that support them. Activists from across the Diaspora convene around common interests. They participate in workshops, classes, and other structured learning opportunities facilitated by experienced professionals. The “affinity group” approach provides participants with opportunities to share expertise among peers of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and cultures. Sessions are structured to expose participants to horizon-broadening activities with life and legacy altering implications. The potential for the development of positive outcomes is tremendous!

Tabax Subë also creates opportunities for businesses and other entities to experience the "peaceful concentration" that is required for strategic planning and organizational renewal. Whether in need of “the ounce of prevention or the pound of cure,” the resources of Tabax Subë can be tailored to accommodate.

Tabax Subë creates on a scale that promotes positive social interaction while ensuring privacy. It is not in competition with hotels or "tourist spots". Guests “come home” to Tabax Subë to “re-create” while tourist "escape" to resorts to “get away.” There is a significant difference!

Within Tabax Subë there is room for the group process but not at the expense of the individual journey. Tubax Subë comfortably accommodates guests. Length of stay varies with the needs and desires of the visit.

As needed, rooms are available for individuals engaged in the creative process and in need of longer-term accommodations. Tabax Subë can provide the perfect environment for refining that innovative concept or applying the “finishing touch” to that special project. Tabax Subë’s “Sage in Residence” program provides an opportunity for an “elder of note” to relax and regenerate for several weeks. Available at no cost to the “sage,” these wisdom-sharing sabbaticals are planned to provide needed rest and contemplation for veteran elder warriors while allowing them to interact with and inspire younger warriors in ascension.

While attracting visitors from throughout the African Diaspora and promoting intra-diasporan development, Tabax Subë stimulates the local economy through direct job creation and enterprise development. Joint ventures and public/private partnerships involving professionals, technicians, tradesmen, craftspeople, from Senegal and North America are responsible for the Tabax Subë’s design and construction. All furnishings and fixtures are designed and installed by local artisans. Tabax Subë’s staff is predominantly Senegalese.

It is clear that multi-national corporations invigorate macro-level economic development. Such development, however, does not always reach the grassroots. Tabax Subë ’s focus, therefore, is on the micro-level. Wherever possible, linkages are developed to promote job creation and sustainable micro-enterprise. Tabax Subë is conceived as a catalyst for locally based economic development. Organic, “bottom-up” processes are central to the application of Tabax Subë's philosophy. In addition to creating venues to design a future, Tabax Subë is also a laboratory to practice and refine grassroots development techniques for subsequent replication. Tabax Subë seeks to demonstrate that it is possible to think globally and, simultaneously, act locally.
